Tour Schedule

8.45am – Explore Catalunya Office, opposite the Palau de la Musicá

You will join your tour at our main office, which is right across from the world famous Palau de la Musicá, where you’ll be introduced to your guide who will give you an introduction to the day. Your tour will start at 9.00am, but we always recommend arriving 15 minutes before. There are restrooms available, and a cafe nearby if you want to grab a quick coffee or sandwich before your tour begins.

9.15am – Eixample District, Barcelona

You will leave Barcelona though the Example district of town, famous for its modernist architecture. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the hour long drive to Girona.

10.30am – Girona

On the hour long drive to Girona, your guide will tell you all about the historical city of Girona and give you an insight into the history of Catalunya. Once you arrive, you’ll follow the trail of key characters, such as Tyrion, Cersei, Joffrey, Sansa, and Jaime at the show’s main filming locations. Throughout the visit here, your guide will share photos at each site, helping you piece together what it took to film and produce the hit show, turning old Girona into some of the main landmarks of King’s Landing and Braavos.

Some of the highlights include:

  • See where Jaime had the big showdown with the High Sparrow
  • Follow in the footsteps of Cersei’s Walk of Shame
  • Discover where Arya, blinded and begging, battles with the waif
  • Visit the location for citadel in Oldtown where Samwell Tardy wants to train as a Maester

You will finish your official Game of Thrones tour by grabbing a scoop of ice cream from a local vendor, a creation affectionately named ‘King’s Hand’ in honor of the crown’s most trusted advisor.

You can finish your exploration of Girona alone, taking time to wander its medieval alleys, Jewish neighbourhood, and enjoy the historic architecture. After some free time alone, you’ll meet up with the guide and drive to a family run Mediterranean local restaurant for a hearty lunch with many of the local specialities.

1.30pm – Traditional Lunch

You will enjoy a traditional lunch in a converted farmhouse, dating back to medieval times.

3.30pm – Palafolls Castle

Your last stop of the day will be the well preserved medieval castle of Palafolls. The castle is free to visit, and it’s far enough off the tourist route so you’ll have the place almost to yourself. The castle has some parts that are prepared for visitors with metal steps and a small ladder to get half way up one of the towers. It is not hard to imagine what life must have been like back in the middle ages or evn for the inhabitants of King’s Landing.  The castle dates back to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, and enough remains of the structures to show how imposing it must have once been.

After some free time to explore the ruins we will head back to Barcelona, arriving at about 5.30pm.

5.30pm – 5.45pm Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona

You end the day back in Barcelona in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.
