Tour Schedule

8.15am – Explore Catalunya Office, opposite the Palau de la Musicá

You will start your tour at our main office, right across from the world-famous Palau de la Musicá. You will meet your guide and get a quick introduction to the day. Your Small Group Day tour starts at 8.30am, but we recommend arriving 15 minutes before. There are restrooms available, and a café nearby if you want to grab a quick coffee or sandwich before your tour begins.

8.30am – Eixample District, Barcelona

You will leave Barcelona though the Eixample district of town, famous for its modernist architecture. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 90 minute drive to Besalú.

10.30am – Besalú

Your first village of the day is Besalú, one of the medieval jewels of Catalunya. You will be immersed into ancient Spain as you enter the village across the stunning medieval stone bridge. You will be given a guided walking tour of this beautifully preserved village, where the guide will point out some of the main sights, before setting you free to explore the arcaded streets, visit the restored mikveh (an old Jewish bath from the 12th century), and see the remains of a medieval synagogue. Besalú is one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Spain, you won’t forget it easily.

1.00pm – Rupit

Your second stop of the day is Rupit. This village has a very different feel to Besalú with its cobblestone winding streets and old 16th Century stone houses. Crossing the hanging wooden bridge that takes you out of the village is a great fun experience. During your visit here, you will have time to enjoy a very traditional Catalan lunch (at your own expense) with a menu full of local dishes.

3.30pm – Taveret

You will leave Rupit around 3.00pm for one of the most beautiful and breathtaking drives in Catalunya. The rural road that goes from Rupit to Tavertet takes you high up over sandstone cliffs and is full of amazing views. Your last village of the day is a mix of charming old stone houses, but it is most famous for the stunning views out over the reservoir of Sau Lake. You will leave here about 5.00pm
6.30pm – 7.00pm Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona

We end the day back in Barcelona in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.
