3 Countries in One Day: France, Andorra and Spain from Barcelona

Where else but in Europe can you visit three countries in one day? Three different countries, three distinctly different atmospheres, stunning drives, and breathtaking scenery.

A unique chance to discover three countries in just one day on a full-day trip to Bagà in Spain, Ax-Les-Thermes in France, and the tiny country of Andorra.

Our first stop is Bagà, a beautiful village shrouded in medieval heritage. From there we cross the French border to Ax-Les-Thermes, a charming spa town with loads of French character. After lunch, we continue to Andorra via a stunning high mountain pass, stopping for a break in a beautiful mountain valley before going on to the capital to indulge in some duty-free shopping.

Tour Schedule

7.00am – Explore Catalunya Office, opposite the Palau de la Musicá

You will join your tour at our main office, which is right across from the world famous Palau de la Musicá, where you’ll be introduced to your guide who will give you an introduction to the day. Your tour will start at 7.00am, but we always recommend arriving 15 minutes before. There are restrooms available, and a cafe nearby if you want to grab a quick coffee or sandwich before your tour begins

7.10am – Eixample District, Barcelona

You will leave Barcelona though the Example district of town, famous for its modernist architecture. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 90 minute drive to Bagà.

8.30am – Bagà

The majestic rocky peaks of the Cadi Moixeró National Park signal your arrival to  our first top of the day, the charming sleepy medieval sleepy village of Bagá. You will have a chance to get a fresh pastry or sandwich in the local bakery, or a coffee in one of the many typical cafes, before rejoining your guide who will give you a short walking tour of the village and then give you free time to explore alone. In the historic main square, your guide will give you some complimentary  traditional ‘coca’, a traditional Catalan sweet pastry.

11.00am – Ax-Les-Thermes, France

From Bagà, you will head deeper into the countryside as the tour travels towards the French border. The next stop is the charming and beautiful ancient spa town of Ax-Les-Thermes.

There are numerous natural fountains dotted around the village, but your guide will recommend some of the best ones to visit and soak your feet in. As well as having time to enjoy the healing waters, you will also be able to browse the local artisan shops where you can buy local cheeses and cured meats, as well as looking out for a souvenir to remember your visit. After wandering around this typical French village, its time to choose from one of the many local restaurants for a traditional French lunch.

After a memorable French experience, you will meet back at the bus to head towards Andorra. Your route takes you through the beautiful Pyrenees Alps to Andorra la Vella, the capital of the small but stunning country of Andorra.

1.30-1.45pm – Pas de la Casa, Andorra

From France, we climb high into the Pyrenees mountain. When you arrive at the border, your guide will take your passports to get that elusive Andorran passport stamp. Just after crossing the border we will stop at Pas de la Casa, an amazing high mountain pass with some stunning photo opportunities. Your tour will stop here for around 15 minutes.

3.00pm – Andorra de la Vella, Andorra

From Pas de la Casa, you will head down the valleys into Andorra de la Vella, the capital of Andorra. This will be your last stop of the day, but you’ll have enough time to do a little bit of duty free shopping and grab a quick bargain.  After an hour so wandering around the shops on your own, you will meet up with your guide to  start back around 4.15pm.

You will stop enroute for a chance to stretch your legs and quench your thirst, before arriving back in town at about 7.30pm.

7.30pm – Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona

We end the day in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.
