Tour Schedule

8.45am – Explore Catalunya Office, opposite the Palau de la Musicá

You will join your tour at our main office, which is right across from the world famous Palau de la Musicá, where you’ll be introduced to your guide who will give you an introduction to the day. Your tour will start at 8.30am, but we always recommend arriving 15 minutes before. There are restrooms available, and a cafe nearby if you want to grab a quick coffee or sandwich before your tour begins.

9.00am – Eixample District, Barcelona

You will leave Barcelona though the Example district of town, famous for its modernist architecture. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 90 minute drive to our first winery.

10.00am – Mas Comtal, Penedes Wine Region

Your tour starts at this charming family owned winery, where, more often than not, you will be shown around the vineyards by Marta, the actual owner. Marta creates such a feeling of friendliness, you’ll soon forget you are a guest, and not one of her old friends! She will bring out a variety of wines, depending on what you prefer, and the tasting usually takes place outside overlooking her vines, and with stunning views of Montserrat in the distance.

11.45pm – Felix Massana, Penedes Wine Region

From Mas Comtal, you will drive through the wine region to another small family owned business. Here you will see up close how the wines and cavas are produced, and you will be taken down into their cellars, which they actually dug out by hand! This is a really special family run affair, and the husband and wife owners will take great care of you.

2.00pm – Lunch, Penedes Wine Region

For lunch, you will go to a local traditional restaurant set right in the midst of the vineyards. Enjoy local dishes, and a glass or two of their own wine.

3.30pm – Pares Balta, Penedes Wine Region

Although most famous for its cava, Penedes is far more than cava. This is what we will show you in the afternoon by visiting an organic winery specialising in white and red still wines. At this family winery, they produce excellent red wines made with Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Garnatxa or Cabernet Sauvignon, demonstrating that the climate and the soil of Penedes can make wonderfull still wines, as well as the more famous cava of the area.

This might be the last stop of the day, but be prepared to sample a wide variety of wines including red, white, rosé, and of, course, cava sparkling wine. We leave the winery at around 5:30pm.

7.00pm – 7.15pm Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona

We end the day back in Barcelona in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.
