Your morning begins in Pals, a perfectly preserved medieval village. Wander cobbled lanes, admire ancient towers, and browse artisan shops full of ceramics, regional products, and handcrafted goods.
Next, travel to Calella de Palafrugell, a whitewashed fishing village tucked along the Costa Brava. Explore quiet coves, coastal paths, and turquoise waters—or join us for an optional traditional seafood paella lunch right by the sea, with stunning views and Mediterranean flavour.
In the afternoon, head inland to Girona, a city layered with history since Roman times. Detailed Tour Schedule
8:15am – Meet at Explore Catalunya Office
Your day begins at our office, located just across from the Palau de la Música. Here, you’ll meet your guide and fellow travellers. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to grab a coffee from a nearby café and use the restrooms before departure.
8:30am – Depart through Barcelona’s Eixample District
Travelling through the elegant Eixample neighbourhood, your guide will share a brief history of modernist Barcelona. Then settle in for a comfortable 90-minute drive through the Catalan countryside to your first stop.
10:00am – Explore the Medieval Village of Pals
Step back in time in Pals, one of Catalonia’s best-preserved medieval towns. Stroll through cobbled lanes lined with stone buildings and visit highlights such as the ancient watchtower, the Gothic church, and the remnants of the original village walls. You’ll also have time to browse artisan shops filled with local ceramics, food products, and handmade crafts.
11:45am – Calella de Palafrugell on the Costa Brava
Arrive at this postcard-perfect fishing village on the Costa Brava, known for its whitewashed homes and rocky coves. Your guide will introduce the area and offer options: stroll coastal footpaths, take a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean, or simply relax by the waterfront.
If you’ve opted to upgrade, this is where you’ll enjoy a traditional seafood paella lunch in a local seafront restaurant—fresh, flavourful, and full of character.
3:00pm – Afternoon in Girona
Journey inland to Girona, a city with over 2,000 years of history. Highlights include the Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter, the Arab Baths, and the Roman walls, which you can walk for panoramic views. Or, take time to wander its boutiques and quiet plazas.
6:30–7:00pm – Return to Barcelona
After a full day of culture and coastline, your guide will bring you back to Plaça Catalunya, right in the heart of Barcelona. From here, it’s easy to find transport or a place to enjoy dinner in the city.
