8.30am – Eixample District, Barcelona
You will leave Barcelona though the Example district of town, famous for its modernist architecture. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 90 minute drive to Pals.
10.00am – Pals Medieval Village
Pals is one of the best preserved historic villages in the region, and its winding streets are home to a number of interesting shops, selling everything from ceramics and local handicrafts to traditional food and souvenirs. Your guide will give you a short tour, taking in the medieval defensive tower, the old church and the orginal village walls.
From Pals, you will head to the fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. This delightful escape has whitewashed houses that reach right down to the sea-front and a number of traditional restaurants – perfect for a leisurely lunch.
12.00pm – Calella de Palafrugell Fishing Village
Your guide will introduce you to the stunning Costa Brava and help you discover one of the most beautiful villages on this stretch of coast. There‘s time to explore some of the coastal footpaths, take a dip in the water in a secluded cove, or try some local seafood in a traditional restaurant. We make sure we arrive here in plenty of time to secure a seat in one of the many delightful restaurants that line the shore – even in the height of the summer.
3.00pm – Girona
After lunch you will head to Girona, a well-established city that has survived many a siege in the course of its long history, since its founding in around 76 BC. During it’s history, it has been dominated by many different people, and, as a result, has a great richness of architectural heritage. The Cathedral, founded in 1038 on the site of a former Mosque, and the spectacular Roman walls, along which you can walk, are just two examples of this.
There are a wide variety of museums and sites of historical interest in Girona, such as the Jewish Call and the Arab Bath house. If you prefer, the narrow streets of the old town are very pleasant just to wander around, indulge in a spot of window-shopping, or find a secluded café and sit back to watch people pass by.
After a couple of hours exploring this beautiful city, you will head back to the bus for a leisurely drive back to the city as your Day Tour to Girona and the Costa Brava comes to an end.
6.30pm – 7.00pm Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona
We end the day back in Barcelona in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.
